The Menu
Directed by Mark Mylod. Written by Seth Reiss and Will Tracy. With the likes of Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queens Gambit, The Northman), Ralph Fiennes (Harry potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1&2, The King's Man) and Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road, Warm Bodies) I was hopeful of this film before it had even began.
Tyler (Nicholas Hoult) and his partner Margot Mills (Anya Taylor-Joy) embark on a boat journey to a highly extravagant restaurant, on its own island. This restaurant grows and slaughters its own produce to use in the restaurant ran by a top Chief Julian Slowik (Ralph Fiennes).
Once the guests have arrived you can see that the way things are is a little off. Soon after you realise that Tyler is a bit besotted by Mr Slowik. After a couple of courses you soon realise all is not as it seems, there is a tense and uneasy feeling about the room growing and you can feel the Guests concern growing about where they might end up.
I feel the story had me gripped with intrigue as they calmly mess with the guests building up to the true horror of what's to come. This was definitely a different style of horror/thriller and the acting and screen play was brilliant. If there were any issues I had they were very minor.
This film was full of brilliant scenes and great acting, I would highly recommend this for anyone who loves a good horror/thriller.
